The First American Alarm Clock.

Who: Levi Hutchins invented  the first American alarm clock

What: It was used for telling time ,and the alarm would wake people up at  a certain time. This was useful for waking people up.

When: Hutchins invented his American alarm clock in 1787, even though European alarm clocks predated his.

Where: It was invented in Concord, New Hampshire.

Why: The alarm was invented because Levi slept past 4:00 AM. He wanted a clock that would wake him up at an exact time.

How: Hutchins built a cabinet of pine and placed the inner mechanism  of a large brass clock inside .  He then inserted a gear so that the minute hand tipped the pinion at 4 am it set a bell ringing.

I think that Levi Hutchin's invention, the alarm clock, is the best invention because it lead to later developments that allowed people to get up at the times they wanted.  Without an alarm clock, people would miss important appointments, be late for work, and late for school.  I think the second best invention was the snooze button!
